Evelyn V. True, of Niles, Mich., passed away, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Timbers of Cass County.
She was born October 11, 1925, in Pokagon, Mich., to Forest & Louisa (Brown) Somers. On August 31, 1944, she married Alvin True at the United Methodist Church in Pokagon. Evelyn was a homemaker for her husband and five children. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking, and going on vacation. Evelyn’s homemade macaroni and cheese holds a first place title from the South Bend Tribune cooking contest.
She is survived by her five children, Darlene (Norman) Hogue, Mike True, Joseph (Virginia) True, Mary Beth True, and Dawn Honeycutt, ten grandchildren, Mark (Maureen) Hogue, Todd (Debbie) Hogue, Frankie Lemanski, Christopher Lemanski, Monica (Derrick) Fisher, Brandon (Jessica) True, Fawn Fisher, Echo Fisher, Lilly Honeycutt, and Hailey Honeycutt, several great grandchildren, and her sister Mary Irwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvin on July 30, 2010, and her two siblings, Bonnie Huston and Waldo Somers.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 10 a.m., at Yazel & Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., with Pastor Jonathan Rose from Hospice at Home officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Timbers of Cass County and Hospice at Home.
