After a courageous battle with cancer, Jeffrey Eugene Folkers Sr. 57, previously of Niles, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born on May 16, 1955, he was the son of Eugene and Dorothy Folkers, formerly of Niles. On May 28, 2011, he was united in marriage to Anita Arnold. He was a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Niles, and volunteered his time to helping others. He enjoyed camping, fishing, photography, Notre Dame and the Cincinnati Reds.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Folkers; parents, Eugene and Dorothy Folkers, of Waynesville, N.C.; his five children, Jennifer (Angelo) Navarro ,of Kenosha, Wis., Julie (Jeff) Owens, of McHenry, Ill., Jeff (Lisa) Folkers, of Niles, Michaela Folkers, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Alayna Folkers, of Heber Springs, Ark.; four stepchildren, Andrew Arnold, Keith Lowry, Jennifer Lowry and Kaitlyn Stanley, all from Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Janet (Bill) Gafkjen, of Fisher, Ind.; brother, Doug Folkers, of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Faith, Joshua, Dakota, Ian, Landen, Michael and Farren; nephew, Nathan; niece, Kira; father and mother-in-law, Clayton and Alice Arnold, of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, Eric (Olga) Arnold; and sister-in-law, Valerie Arnold, of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Marguerite (Cox) Folkers and Otto and Gertrude (Dietz) Swartz; and an aunt, Matilda McCartney. A memorial service will celebrate his life on May 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Northwest Community Church, 8735 Cheviot Road, Cincinnati, Ohio.
