The Cassopolis Village Council voted unanimously to extend the contract of interim Village Manager Cindy LaGrow through June Monday night.

LaGrow was hired by the village Nov. 13. Her current contract expires in May.

She was hired because of her extensive background in consulting with communities similar to Cassopolis, including Watervliet (four times) and Dowagiac.

LaGrow will work between 16 and 20 hours a week. She said before the council took a vote that she believed the village could work with a part-time village manager and that a full-time manager was not in the budget at this time.

The council voted to change the hours of operation for the Department of Public Works. The DPW will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 through Oct. 31 and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 through March 31.

A request was approved for the Log Cabin Museum 5K run, which will be held June 29. The village will be an official sponsor of the event, which is a fundraiser for the museum.

The council also:

• Ratified the Cassopolis Area Utility Authority lease.

• Appointed Ben Anderson as the full-time superintendent of the Department of Public Works.

• Approved repairs to the Lakeshore lift station.
