Florence M. Helwig, 92, of Stevensville, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in the Kephart Cottage of Gilead Elder Care in Berrien Springs.

She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., to Anthony and Josephine Antonelli.  She married George Helwig on Feb. 14, 1970 in Chicago. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Michael Antonelli, Louis Antonelli and Anthony Antonelli.

The light of Florence’s life was her family. She was known for her famous Italian desserts and pasta dishes and people were always asking for her recipes.

Florence will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by: one sister, Mary Cozzolino of St. Joseph; two nephews, Rocco (Arlene) Graziano of Stevensville and Enrico (Linda) Cozzolino of Cassopolis; great nieces and great nephews, Marcia Miller of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Rachelle (Michael) Wyble and their children Christi and Rocky of Stevensville, Angela Cozzolino of Niles, Lisa (Scott) Sheets and their children Kayleigh and Ethan of Cassopolis, Lori Watson and her children Brandon, Shelby and Taylor of Niles, and Joseph Watson of Salem, Ore.

The family will observe a private remembrance. Mrs. Helwig will be laid to rest beside her late husband, George Helwig, in North Shore Memory Garden, Coloma.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
