There is only one place in Michiana to experience the full-length classical performance of the beloved holiday classic, “The Nutcracker Ballet” this holiday season.

On Dec. 8 and 9, the Morris Performing Arts Center in downtown South Bend, Ind., will be hosting Southhold Dance Theatre’s interpretation of the ballet. Show times are 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and 2 p.m. Dec. 9. Tickets range in price from $15 to $50 and can be purchased online at morriscenter.org or at the Morris box office at 211 N. Michigan St.

A holiday favorite

This timeless holiday classic favorite returns to thrill and enchant audiences of all ages.

“The Nutcracker,” Tchaikovsky´s greatly loved holiday ballet score opens with a five-minute dance orientation followed by two acts of unforgettable performance. Delightful sets and costuming will enhance your travels with Clara as you watch her Nutcracker come to life, see her Christmas tree grow and journey with her to faraway places.

Southold Dance Theater’s Nutcracker is the largest and the only full, unabridged Nutcracker production in the region this season.

The classic production is expected to draw more than 11,000 people to the performances at the Morris Performing Arts Center.

More than 175 children from Southold Dance Theater’s prestigious ballet school and a Youth Company of nearly 40 dancers will participate in the performance. Also, Guest principal artist Calin Radulescu will join this adaptation of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic holiday tale.
