Linda Sue (Hambouz) Schlundt, 69, of South Bend passed away on October 18 at her home.

Linda was born on Jan. 30, 1943 in Flint, Mich., to the late Rena and Otto Greve. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education. She retired in 2003 from the Brandywine Community Schools after 33 years of service. Prior to her tenure at Brandywine she taught in Portage, Mich. Her passion for teaching was lifelong and, over the years, she remained in contact with generations of former students. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and playing cards, as well as countless creative pursuits. Her children and friends will always remember her for her offbeat sense of humor, her generous spirit, and her open heart and mind.

Linda is survived by her daughter Annissa Hambouz of San Francisco, Cal.; son and daughter-in-law Michael Hambouz and Anne Hunter of Brooklyn, NY; and a grandcat, Pickles.

On Linda’s request, there will be no services. Online condolences may be left for Linda’s family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation, designated for the “Brandywine Schools Improvement Fund” (mgcf.org or 111 Days Avenue, Buchanan, MI 49107) and Center for Hospice Care (111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637).
