Clara Scott, 82, of Niles, passed away at home after a brief illness Aug. 14, 2012.

She was born June 26, 1930, to the union of Carrie and Willie Lyons in Camphill, Ala.

Her parents preceded her in death.

She married Randolph Scott on Aug. 19, 1950. The couple was married 61 years. In this union there were six children: Caroline (Bill) Boris, Gregory Scott, Jaqueline Scott, Sherri Scott, Tracey Scott and Randolph Scott Jr. She had two stepchildren, Jimmie (Anthony) Newton of Chicago and Rudean Scott of Philadelphia.

She had two sisters, Lottie (John) Tabron, of Detroit, Mildred Thomas of Savannah, Ga., who preceded her in death; her husband, William Thomas, survives. She has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She also has a special niece.

She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for more than 45 years, having served in the capacity of a former Sunday school teacher, choir member, a member the scholarship coral and one of the mothers of the church.

She gave her life to the Lord when she was 12 years old and never looked back to worldly riches.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 18, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Niles. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.
