William E. Ampey, 89, of Cassopolis, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at his residence.  He was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Calvin Township to Carl and Mamie (Lawson) Ampey.

He was a member of Kalamazoo Lodge, F & AM and Penn Friends Community Church, Cassopolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Emily Hunley; sisters, Martha Emily Wright and Jessie Powell; and brothers, Clarence Ampey and Oren Chavous.

William is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and David Hunley, of Cassopolis; one son, William O. Ampey, of Cassopolis; two granddaughters, Pamela Osborn and August Hunley; one grandson, Matthew Hunley; and sister-in-law, Ruth Ampey, of Clovis, N.M.

Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, for a graveside service in Calvin Community Cemetery, Calvin Township, with the Rev. Carl Wright, pastor of First Baptist Church, Decatur, officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions Hospice at Home, Inc.-St. Joseph, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
