Evelyn Beneke, 63

Evelyn Beneke, 63, of Decatur, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at her home.

Evelyn’s life began on April 22, 1949, in Watervliet, the daughter of C. Everett and Virginia (Ballard) Long. She was united in marriage to Daniel J. Beneke on April 20, 1968, in Cassopolis. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Evelyn loved to read, but her real passion was spending time with her husband, Daniel, and their grandchildren. Evelyn was known by all to have a very loving and giving spirit, especially when it came to children and animals.

Her loving family includes her husband, Daniel; daughters, Anna (William) Kring of Portage, and Angie (David) Schwarz of Baroda, Mich.; grandchildren, Katelyn, Allison and Billy Kring; six sisters; and two brothers.

She was preceded in death by her father, C. Everett Long.

Her family will gather with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Yazel & Clark Chapel. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. for Evelyn at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Memorial contributions in Evelyn’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
