NEW BUFFALO — Fans of Hannah’s, a once-popular New Buffalo restaurant that closed about three years ago, will be happy to know the restaurant has re-opened under new ownership.

The restaurant also has a new, yet familiar, name.

Hannah & Harry’s, located at 115 S. Whittaker St.

“Everyone told us they were looking forward to it coming back,” said Robert A. Cobb, Detroit native and co-owner. “When this closed it made a big hole in New Buffalo. We just hope we can live up to their expectations.”

Cobb and co-owner Ron Heck also own Harpoon Harry’s restaurant in Key West. They combined Hannah’s and Harpoon Harry’s to come up with restaurant’s name: Hannah & Harry’s.

Cobb said the restaurant is family-oriented with an easy-going casual atmosphere.

“If you are out at the beach or out fishing, you can come on over to Hannah’s,” Cobb said. “We cater to locals and welcome tourists.”

One side of the restaurant — the Hannah side — is geared towards families, while the other side — Harry’s — is be geared towards adults. Harry’s side features a bar, which Cobb said would remain open as late as customers would like.

Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Cobb said he hopes the restaurant would be open year round.

The restaurant offers a lunch and dinner menu, although most lunch menu items are available at dinner too. There is also a children’s menu, featuring a build-your-own ice-cream sundae bar.

“They can make whatever their little hearts desire,” Cobb said.

The menu offers several cold and hot appetizers, including a peeled and ready-to-eat Bucket ‘O Shrimp and BBQ Pork Nachos.

There are five salads ranging from the unique Nicoise Ahi Tuna, to the traditional Classic Caesar Salad.

Featured soups are New England Clam Chowder, Gazpacho and House Made Beef Chili.

Grill items include the Harry’s Burger (1/2 pound Piedmontese Beef hand patted and seasoned), Fish Tacos, Veggie Burger and Lake Perch Sandwich, to name a few.

Customers have close to 20 options for dinner entrees, including Sautéed Lake Perch, Hanger Steak, Herb Rubbed Brick Chicken, BBQ Ribs, Lobster Mac-n-Cheese and Orechiette, a pasta tossed with vegetables, zucchini, squash, asparagus, herbs and lentils in a light tomato sauce.
