It’s certainly no secret that southwest Michigan is home to picturesque beaches and award-winning wineries.

In celebration of these popular local attractions, Lake Michigan Shore Wine Country is presenting the 7th Annual Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival on Saturday, June 16.

Title sponsor, Southwest Michigan Tourist Council along with The Economic Growth Alliance (Partnership of Lake Township and City of Bridgman) and Lake Michigan Shore Wine Country invite anyone to a serene summer day on a pristine beach to savor award-winning Michigan wines.

Live music will enhance the event, which takes place under a “Big-Top Tent” overlooking beautiful Weko Beach from 1 to 10 p.m.

It’s a showcase event where more than 4,000 guests are expected to attend and sample — tastes or by the glass — all of the wonderful Lake Michigan Shore Wine Country locally grown-and-produced varietals. Tasting tickets are $1 per ticket, meaning one ticket for a taste and 5-7 tickets for a glass.

The live music lineup includes P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend, Cathy Richardson Band, J.C. Brooks & The Uptown Sound, Duke Tumatoe and Everyday People.

“Bridgman is a small community on the shores of Lake Michigan, but for the past six years on the third Saturday in June, our wine fest has become our signature annual event,” said Bridgman Mayor Ron Birmingham. “This event doubles the size of our town and showcases our beach, commerce, vineyards and orchards.”

Admission to the festival is $10 for ages 21 and older and includes a souvenir wine tasting glass. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free. Advance admission tickets are $8 and are available at www.ticketweb.com or in person at Hardings Friendly Market – 3651 Shawnee Road in Bridgman.

Weko Beach is located off of I-94 at Exit 16 in Southwest Michigan. Drive north on Red Arrow Highway to the stop light in Bridgman, then head west on Lake Street.  Parking and shuttle buses will be available at designated lots in Bridgman. No coolers are allowed for the event, which will take place rain or shine event.
