Virginia M. (Ferneding) Lugger, 94, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Riveridge Manor, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and became a hairdresser at age 14.

Early in her marriage to Robert, they moved to Niles, where her husband worked for the railroad. Upon Robert becoming employed at Notre Dame, they lived in South Bend. Upon retirement they returned to Niles.

Donations in lieu of flowers or other memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church at 3 N. 19th St. in Niles with the Rev. Thomas King officiating.

Friends and family may gather at Brown Funeral Home from Monday on 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A private interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Ind.
