Brandywine senior Carlie Newman picked up another honor this week.

Newman, who was already named first team Associated Press All-State, was named first team Class C Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan All-State Thursday.

Newman led the Bobcats to four straight district championships, three consecutive Lakeland Conference titles, three regional championships, three quarterfinal appearances and one trip to the Breslin Center at Michigan State for a semifinal game.

Newman also helped the Bobcats build a 41-game conference winning streak.

She is the all-time leading scorer at Brandywine with 1,598 points, which is eighth best in southwest Michigan. She holds the single game scoring mark with 41 points and the career 3-point baskets made with more than 200.

This past season she averaged 19.7 points per game, second best in the area, and averaged 7.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.

She will attend Spring Arbor in the fall and continue her basketball career.

Newman was one of three southwest Michigan players to earn first team all-state.

In Class B, Benton Harbor freshman Kalabrya Gondrezick and St. Joseph junior Erika Priebe were first team picks.
