Floyd Farmer, 84

Floyd M. Farmer, 94, of Niles, died at 10:23 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Morgan City, La., following an extended illness.

He was born May 20, 1927, and lived in the Niles area since childhood. He married the former Mary Ella Hoff; she preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2011.

Floyd was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Bendix Corp. in South Bend after 43 years of service.

He is survived by his daughter, Tish Foret of Morgan City; grandchildren, Jimi (Robert) Encalade and C.J. and Jaron Foret; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ella; parents; son-in-law, Louis Foret; one brother and two sisters.

A graveside service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, with Deacon Roger Gregorski of St. Mary Catholic Church, Niles, officiating.
