Mary Dorothy Born, 92, of South Third Street, Niles, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Brentwood Assisted Living Community in Niles.

She was born Jan. 20, 1920, in Chicago to James and Graceanna (Read) Sloan. On April 14, 1951, she married Richard L. Born in Chicago. The couple then relocated to the Niles area for their entire married life.

Surviving with her husband, Richard, are their daughters, Anne Born of Bronx, N.Y. and Maureen (Jeffrey) Born Sturgeon of Vienna, Austria; five grandchildren: Graceanna, Mary Dorothy, Charles, Anthony and Lucy; and sister Anita Lynch of Tinley Park, Ill.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Dorothy Born will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Saint Mark Catholic Church in Niles (due to construction at Saint Mary’s) by the Rev. David Otto of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. Committal rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.

The family received relatives and friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles.
