A woman walking her dog on South Shore Drive at Eagle Lake was attacked by two large bull mastiff dogs Jan. 11.
“The lady is OK. Her German shepherd protected her and she only sustained a puncture wound,” Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Chief Ken Wray said. “Her dog, however, did not do so well and needed vet care.”
Wray’s officers investigated the attack, but ultimately Cass County Animal Control impounded the pair.
Animal Control Director Mike Grice said the bull mastiffs remain quarantined at the shelter in Cassopolis for 10 days.
Reports have been forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office.
“I’m not sure what charges they’re looking at,” Grice said, adding, “These two dogs have not been a problem” except a barking complaint in September.
