Niles senior Maureen Craig has meant a lot to the Vikings’ girls basketball team this season.
She has led the team in scoring (17.9 points per game), steals (3.9 per game), assists (23), steals (31) and is third on the team in rebounds (3.6 per game).
In Niles’ last game against Hartford in the consolation game of the Brandywine Holiday Tournament, Craig broke the school record for 3-pointers made.
Craig, who led Michigan in 3-pointers made last season with 77, surpassed Brandie Radde’s 2006 record as she connected on six tries in the Vikings’ 64-49 win over Hartford.
Her six 3-pointers gave her 165 in her career. Radde’s record was 162.
Craig’s sister Lindsay stands third on the list of all-time 3-point shooters.
Maureen Craig is already the Niles record holder in 3-pointers made in a game with eight, which she set last season against Dowagiac.
So far this year she has scored 31 points against Benton Harbor and finished with 29 points in the Hartford game in which she was 12-of-28 from the field.
