Dorothy “Dottie” MacNeal Burton, 72 of Vandalia, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

She was born to Arthur Buster Dungey and Georgia (Moorhead) Benitezs in South Haven, Mich. on Aug. 20, 1939. Dottie was raised from infancy by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Lola Dungey of Cassopolis.

Dorothy was a teacher’s aide for Cassopolis Public Schools.
She married Ralph MacNeal, Sr. He survives in Denver. She later married John “Jim” Burton. He preceded her in death in December 2005. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Renee Lynn MacNeal, in 1974 and one son, Ralph MacNeal, Jr., in 1989.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sheryl (Harland) Haines of Vandalia, and Eula MacNeal of Kalamazoo; one son, Randolph (Diana) MacNeal of Elkhart; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; an aunt, Pauline Claybrook of Indianapolis; a cousin, Frank Williams, Jr. of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, Oct. 20 for a service at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals. The Rev. Michael Anderson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Vandalia, will officiate.
Dottie will be laid to rest by her daughter, Renee Lynn, in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis.
