John D. Riley, 79, of Lake Placid, Fla., was called home to our Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011.
John died at his home in the companionship of his wife and family. He was a native of Michigan, born April 16, 1931 in Niles, the son of Ms. Orvilla and John H. Riley.
John retired after 30 years from National Standard Co., a wire manufacturing company in Niles. He was a journeyman machinist. John came to Lake Placid, Fla. in 1981 from Niles. He worked at the Lake Placid Publix for 10 years and always had a smile and kind words for everyone. He was a member of the Lake Placid Moose Lodge, VFW Lodge and a charter member of the Lake Placid Elks.
John is survived by his wife Pat, whom he wed in Niles on Jan. 13, 1951; son, Craig of Sutherlin, Ore.; sister, Norma Pollach of Niles; brothers-in-law, Harold Pingel (Helen) and Lynn Pingel (Susan); and he was blessed with grandchildren, Whitney and Jordan Riley.
John was predeceased by his son, Randy, in 2007.
The family will receive friends at the Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 4 with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Pastor Jerry McCauley will celebrate.
Interment will be in Michigan.
