Horace True, 91 / April 21, 1919 — Feb. 17, 2011

Horace E. True, 91, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital after an illness.

He was born April 21, 1919 in East Pembroke, N.Y. to George and Harriet (Elliott) True. He was a self-employed painter and home decorator, and he enjoyed his work.

He was married July 18, 1941 in LeRoy, N.Y. to Doris M. Waterman, and they moved to Michigan in 1977. Horace served his country in the Army during World War II in the Corps of Engineers in central Europe and Rhineland.

He was a member of the Edwardsburg American Legion, Hope United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge of Elkhart and St. Peter’s Masonic Lodge of Edwardsburg.

His loving wife, Doris, passed on March 25, 2009.

Surviving are his two daughters, Linda True and her husband, Dean Moulton of Indianola, Wash. and Peggy A. Long and her friend, Ron Grzeskiewicz of Cassopolis; two loving grandchildren, Christine (Josh) Seiser of Blissfield, Mich. and Todd (Nikki) Long of Cassopolis; and five dear great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a grandson, Trevor Smith; and a sister, Corine Newton.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Chruch, 69941 Elkhart Rd., Edwardsburg, with the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor, officiating. The U.S. Army Honor Guard will play “Taps” and fold the flag at the end of the service.

Friends may call one hour prior to services.
