NILES — Wesley O. Tonkin, 83, was born Feb. 1, 1927, at 23 Parkway in Niles to Sidney and Irene (Kelly) Tonkin. He passed away at home at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 14 after living all his life in Niles.

Mr. Tonkin served his country during WorId War II as a U.S. Army radioman for the 88th Division, 350th H.Q. in Italy after graduating from Niles High in 1945. He worked as a machinist for more than 33 years at National-Standard Co. in Niles and Electro Voice in Buchanan for nine years, retiring from both. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Tonkin’s memory to any veterans organization.
