The Edwardsburg girls varsity volleyball team traveled north on M-63 to face off with Lakeland Conference rival Cassopolis on Wednesday evening (Oct. 6) and won in four sets, 3-1.
The Eddies wasted little time taking down the Rangers in the first set, winning easily by the count of 25-12.
The second set was a little different as the host team jumped out to a 16-8 advantage before the visitors made a furious comeback and tied the game at 23-23.
Both teams would have a chance to close it out from here as Edwardsburg served game point leading 25-24, but couldn’t seal the win before Cassopolis would finally get the final point needed, winning 27-25.
The third set proved to be just as good of a game as any as both teams battled back and forth before the visitors finally pulled away for the 25-21 win.
In the fourth set the Eddies proved to be just too much for the Rangers as they dominated from start to finish winning easily again by the score of 25-11.
The Eddies improved to 3-1 in the Conference and will host Coloma on Wednesday, while the Rangers fall to 0-4 in the Conference and will host Berrien Springs on Wednesday in the second annual Dig for a Cure, where the players will be wearing pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
