Josephine L. (Antisdel) Keene, 99, of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010, at her home.
She was born on April 19, 1911, in Wayne Township, Cass County, to Vance and Isabel (Petcher) Antisdel.
Jo was united in marriage to Harley Pearl Keene on Sept. 23, 1926, in Cassopolis. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until his passing on Oct. 8, 1994.
Jo spent her entire life as a homemaker and caretaker of her seven children and multiple “other” children.
Jo is survived by: four daughters, Barbara Green, Shirley (Phil) Myers, Nancy Keller and Patsy Keene, all of Dowagiac; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great- great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter Antisdel of Bangor and Sherman Benson of Texas; and sister, Pearl Morris of Niles.
She is preceded in death by: three sons, William, Dale and Harry Keene; daughter-in-law, Paula (William) Keene; son-in-law, Kenneth Green; sister, Georgeanne Kosier; and brother, Earl Benson.
Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be on Wednesday at 3 p.m. led by Chaplain Theda McBryde of Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, following the service.
