John Adolph Eichberg, 74, of Berrien Springs died Friday, April 23, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
John was born Jan. 10, 1936 in International Falls, Minn. to Adolph and Goldina (Clark) Eichberg. He resided in Berrien Springs most of his life, retiring from Wymer’s Septic Tank in 1998 after 32 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 50 years. John served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Wimpole Park Air Hospital Base where he met and married Primrose Ann Charter on Aug. 17, 1957. The couple had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Survivors include his wife, Primrose; three sons; David (Leath Ann), of St. Joseph, Rick, of Palm Springs, Calif. and Darryl (Wanda), of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, William Eichberg, of Mt. Pleasant, Alecia Eichberg, of St. Joseph, Elizabeth Eichberg, of Sugarland, Texas, Michael and Christopher Eichberg, of Eau Claire; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Goldina; sister, Jeanette Gaines and her husband, Norman Gaines; brother, Kenneth Eichberg; and a son, Arnold Eichberg.
John’s wishes were to be cremated. Extended family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Berrien Springs. A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held at 6 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Berrien Springs. Legacy Family Funeral Services-Matthew R. Purchase Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Diabetes Association or the family.
John will be missed by many people who knew him. John’s acceptance of Jesus Christ assures us that he is resting peacefully in heaven. A private burial service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich.
