Gertrude Mae Wade, 87, of Pokagon Highway, Cassopolis died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 in the Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis after an extended illness.

She was born April 12, 1922 in Three Rivers, Mich. as the daughter of the late Delbert and Muriel (Ferguson) Davis. She was a lifetime area resident.
Gertrude was a retired secretary with the Cassopolis Public Schools and later with Lewis Cass Intermediate School District, Cassopolis.  She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Cassopolis.  She was a life member and past grand officer with the Michigan Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Cassopolis Book Club.

Gertrude married William L. Wade on June 22, 1940 in Cassopolis, and he preceded her in death June 1, 2004.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy A. (Roger) Smith of Cassopolis; two grandchildren, Wade (Debbie) Harding and Lisa Sobieski, both of Cassopolis; two great-grandchildren, Dustin Harding and Courtney Sobieski, both of Cassopolis; and two brothers, Jack Davis of Florida and Lyle Davis of Edwardsburg.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the United Presbyterian Church, Cassopolis.  Officiating was her pastor, the Rev. Stephen Kaszar.

Memorials can be made to the Cass County Council on Aging, the Cass County Medical Care Facility or the United Presbyterian Church, Cassopolis.
