Otsego turns back Dowagiac

OTSEGO – Led by the Klein brothers, host Otsego built up a 13-point halftime cushion and cruised to a 71-45 Wolverine Conference boys’ basketball win over Dowagiac Tuesday night.

Derek Klein led all scorers with 19 points, while brother Jared Klein added 16 for the Bulldogs, who improve to 12-1 in the conference and 14-1 overall.

Jeremy Metz finished with 10 for Otsego, which led 16-12 after one period of play and 33-20 at the intermission.

The Bulldogs outscored the Chieftains 38-25 in the second half to turn the game into a rout.

Cody Cox scored a season-high 15 points to lead the Chieftains, who also got six points from D.J. Hunt and five points from Chris Craft.

Dowagiac drops to 4-10 on the season and 4-9 in league games.

The Chieftains return to action Friday night when they travel to Vicksburg.
