Harper Creek turns back Niles 57-50

BATTLE CREEK – Visiting Niles was outscored 34-28 in the second half Tuesday night as Battle Creek Harper Creek picked up a 57-50 girls’ basketball victory.

Harper Creek grabbed an 18-11 first quarter lead only to have the Vikings come storming back in the second quarter to knot the score at 23-23 by halftime.

Harper Creek held a 16-11 scoring advantage in the pivotal third quarter to open up a 39-34 lead heading to the fourth.

Battle Creek scored two more points than Niles in the final eight minutes to take the seven point win.

Bre Birmingham and Zoe Weaver scored 16 and 15 points respectively to lead Harper Creek.

Savannah Wolnik led a trio of double digit scorers for Niles with 15 points.
Nichole Sly and Alex McIntee scored 12 and 11 points.

Niles will be back in action on Friday night as it travels to Mattawan for a Big 16 West Division contest.
