Mary Ann McCormack, 80, of Elkhart, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 after an illness while a patient at Woodland Manor.
She was born Dec. 3, 1928 in LaJunta, Colo. to Oliver Goodyear and Mary Nichell. She moved to Edwardsburg in 1955 from Mishawaka, then moved 10 years ago to Elkhart. She married C.S. “Mac” McCormack on May 25, 1953 in South Bend. He died Oct. 20, 1989.
She graduated from John Adams High School, South Bend, class of 1946, and attended South Bend College of Commerce. She formerly worked at South Bend Window Cleaning; Workinger Electric, of Elkhart; Creation Windows, of Elkhart; and Imperial Vans, of Elkhart.
She was a life member of the Edwardsburg Conservation Club, where she was membership secretary; Michigan United Conservation Clubs, where she was state credentials chairwoman; and MUCC Women’s Organization.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Lemna, of Elkhart, with whom she lived; two grandchildren; a stepbrother, Richard Kitchen, of Edwardsburg; and stepsister, Janet Thompson, of Florida.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mac, and stepbrother, George Kitchen.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Burial was held at the Edwardsburg Cemetery.
