Buchanan girls finish 18th at Portage Invitational

PORTAGE – The Buchanan girls’ cross country team finished 18th at the Portage Invitational on Saturday in Division 3.

The Bucks’ boys’ team finished 30th.

Hanover-Horton won the girls’ championship with 72 points. Buchanan finished with 503 points.

Devan John of Allendale was the overall winner with a time of 18:00.7.

Buchanan’s Torrie Eger finished 47th with a time of 20:26.

Elizabeth Hein was 81st (21:38), Stephanie Reith 95th (22:03), Allison Mitchell 112th (22:29), Ashley Best 168th (23:44), Shanen Green 190th (24:42) and Ashlyn Pastryk 192nd (24:48).

Calvin Christian won the boys’ title with 91 points.

The Bucks finished with 742 points.

Durand’s David Madrigal was the overall winner with a time of 15:36.4.

Carsten McCarty led the Bucks with a time of 18:43 and a finish of 111th.

Rick Reith was 112th (18:44), Alex Egar 150th (19:23), John Querl 176th (19:54), John Kuntz 193rd (20:41), Pat Wheatley 209th (21:30) and Jacob Ferris 217th (22:19).
