Quentin E. Thornton. Sr., 88, of Goodman Road, Pelham, N.C., passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 20, 2009, at his residence. He had been in declining health since June.

Funeral services were conducted Sept. 23 at Pelham United Methodist Church, followed by interment in Pelham UMC Cemetery.

Quentin, born in St.Joseph County, Ind., worked for 29 years as an independent truck driver until an accident in 1969 forced him to retire.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army/Air Force and a member of Pokagon United Methodist Church, to which memorial contributions may be made.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Reynolds) Phillippi Thornton, and a daughter in Dowagiac, Susan Dayson.

Old Rugged Cross Foundation Inc. arranged Sunday’s memorial service.
