David Alan Pitcher, 48, of Biscayne Avenue, Portage, and formerly of Niles, died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, in Portage, from injuries following an automotive accident.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with Pastor Timothy Truckenmiller of Mon Valley River, Webster, Pa., officiating.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1961, in Niles, to David Keith Pitcher and Dorothy Sue Allen Pitcher.

He has lived in Portage for 12 years, moving there from Niles.

He was self-employed as a contractor.

He graduated from Niles High School in 1980, and later, in 1983, graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in Denver, Colo.

He was formerly employed at Home Depot in Portage. he enjoyed fishing, working on cars and had restored an old truck.

Surviving family includes two sons, Dustin Pitcher of Bakersfield, Calif. and Jay Pitcher of Salem, Ohio; his parents, David K. and Dorothy S. Pitcher of Niles; a sister, Tammy S. (Michael) Miller; several nieces and nephews and a companion, Donna Cartwright of Portage.

Memorial contributions may be made to Polly’s Place, Niles.
