St. Mary’s Catholic School in Niles was the winner of Wednesday’s “I Love to Read Challenge” by WSBT Television.

Despite having an enrollment of less than 100 students, St. Mary’s gathered 7,420 votes to beat out Niles’ Ballard Elementary, Eastside Connections and Howard Elementary and Berrien Springs’ Ruth Murdoch Elementary.

WSBT reporter and anchor Kristin Bien read the children’s book, “Memoirs of a Goldfish,” to the students Wednesday morning in the school’s gymnasium. The segment will air on WSBT.
