Preschool registers Feb. 21

Northside Child Development Center will hold its annual 4-year-old registration for its 2012-13 preschool programs at 7 p.m. Feb. 21.
The state-licensed early childhood learning facility is part of Niles Community Schools, 2020 N. Fifth St. in Niles.
Northside has 164 seats available, and they always fill quickly, said preschool coordinator Kathy Emmons.
“It is important to apply early if you want your child at Northside,” she said.
Registration information for the Head Start and Early Learners programs will be available. Head Start is a federal-grant program for families that meet certain financial requirements. Early Learners is a state-grant program for families meeting certain financial requirements. Northside has 68 slots for Head Start and 96 for Early Learners.
Parents are not required to bring any financial information or their children to the Feb. 21 meeting.
Emmons said each family would meet with a school representative to go over the different programs and their qualifications.
Another formal registration will take place March 15.
Families unable to attend the Feb. 21 registration event can stop by Northside from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday after Feb. 21.
Children who will be age 4 on or before Dec. 1, 2012, and who are residents of the Niles Community Schools district are eligible.
