Nedra Lenora Horton

Born: July 5, 1911

Died: Dec. 17, 2012

If one listened very closely on Dec. 17, 2012 at 4:45 a.m., the glorious songs of the angels could be heard. Nedra Lenora Horton, 101 years old, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Nedra was born July 5, 1911 in Winamac, Ind. to the union of Harry and Edith Good. A loyal, loving and giving child grew into the exact same type of woman. She adored her four siblings who have all preceded her in  death. Forest and Wayne Good were her beloved brothers and Florence and Nelva were the sisters she adored.

Growing up on a rural farm, shaped Nedra or “Babe” as she was lovingly called by her friends and family alike, into a humble , hard working adult. Mishawaka became the home of the Good family during the years of the Great Depression. Nedra surrendered her dream of formal education in order to help support her family.

She later met and married Benjamin White which resulted in the birth of her only child, Dorene Wogatzke, whom she is now reunited with. Dorene passed away in 2011. Nedra was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Marlene K. Fisher, two great grandsons, one great great grandson, her parents a grandson-in-law and a great great  granddaughter.

Nedra is survived by her three granddaughters, Darlene L. Bennet and companion, Billy Hans of South Bend, Ind., Deborah R. Majewski (George) of Edwardsburg, and Cheryl S. Strausborger (Randall) of Mishawaka, Ind. There are also 20 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren that will sorely miss their beloved Granny as well.

Graveside services were held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville, followed by a luncheon at the American Legion Post 365 in Edwardsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any memorial contributions be made in Nedra’s memory to the First Congressional Church of Grand Junction, P.O. Box 166, Grand Junction, MI 49056.

Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home. 26863 West Main St. P.O. Box 24, Edwardsburg, MI  49112-0024
