Marie O. Stickle, 92, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Monday evening, March 18, 2013 in Cass County Medical Care Facility.

Marie was born May 1, 1920 in Cass City, Michigan to Everett and Myrtle (Howley) Darling. She married Roy Everett Stickle in 1940 in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; one step daughter, Barbara Doyle; one step-son, John Stickle; one sister, Doris Karr; and one brother, Joseph Darling.

Marie and her husband owned and operated Stickle’s American Cleaners in Cassopolis for many years until Roy’s death in 1969. Marie also worked at Fifth Third Bank for many years after Roy’s death. Marie was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club and was an Auxiliary Board member of the Cass County Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed playing bridge and had a circle of friends who played regularly for a number of years. She also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Spain, Hawaii, Africa, and many “mini” excursions around the United States.

Marie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by one son, Jay (Judy) Stickle of Cassopolis; one step son, Robert (Barbara) Stickle of Cass City; one granddaughter, Gina (Tom) Harwood of Rochester Hills; two grandsons, Gregory (Tracy) Stickle of Grandville, Dennis (Stacey) Stickle of Grayslake, Ill.; six great grandchildren, and 10 step grandchildren; one sister Dorothy Tesho of Bridgeport; and many  nieces and nephews.

The family will observe a private remembrance.

As an avid, life-time reader, her wish was to have memorials made to Cass District Library, 319 M-62 North, Cassopolis, MI 49031.
