Howard All-Stars win state title

The Howard Township 12-year-old All-Stars captured the Cal Ripken Michigan State championship Sunday.

The All-Stars needed only 14 and a half innings to capture the title. They outscored their opponents 64-4 in the process. All four runs were unearned.

Howard Township went 4-0 in the tournament.

In the championship game against Huron Valley, the All-Stars scored 13 runs and had three home runs. Howard Township went on to win 21-1.

The All-Stars also beat Brandywine B 17-0, Huron Valley 13-3 and Brandywine A 11-0.

Offensively, Howard Township was led by Johnny Bybee with three home runs, Hunter Bedell and Connor Brawley with two home runs and Bray Plomb with a home run.

Jake Lalone, Tony Nate, Drew Rudlaff and Elijah Williams also provided RBIs and key hits for the All-Star.

Defensively, the All-Stars did not allow an earned run. Plomb and Bedell tossed no-hitters for Howard Township.
