Brandywine Cat Tracks nets $2,800
Brandywine is on track to get a new press box thanks to the annual Cat Tracks 5K Trail Run Walk.
Brandywine Supt. John Jarpe told the Brandywine school board Monday that $2,827 profit was made during the sixth annual Cat Tracks event held in August at and around the high school.
“It’s a good event we have there,” Jarpe said.
Al Price, Cat Tracks organizer and Brandywine alum, requested that $2,500 of the profit go toward building a new press box at the football field.
Jarpe said the press box was likely built 25 years ago.
“It’s due,” Jarpe said. “We’d like to build a new one by next summer if we can.”
The $2,500 would only cover part of the cost of a new press box, Jarpe added.
Price also recommended $300 go toward the school’s cross-country program. Many of the volunteers, Jarpe said, were cross-country team members or parents of cross-country team members.
Cat Tracks is a fundraising event sponsored by the Brandywine Foundation.
