Marie Scott, 85

Born: July 7, 1927

Died: April 5, 2013

Marie Scott, 85, of Bridgman, formerly of Three Rivers, died Friday evening, April 5, 2013, in Bridgman Retirement Home.

Marie was born July 7, 1927, in Coffeeville, Ala., to Mr. and Mrs. Erzo Mitchell, the oldest of 19 children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her only daughter, Ruby Kiel; and one brother.

Marie was an amazing woman. She looked forward to spring because she could start working on her gardening and her flower beds. Autumn meant she could do her canning. Regardless of the time of year, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t try. Marie was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Three Rivers, under the spiritual leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Bobby Joe Tolbert. She sang in the choir, served on the Pastor’s Aid Committee and served dutifully.

Marie will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by two grandsons, Antonio Cain of Bronx, N.Y., and Richard Cain, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; 17 siblings; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 11 a.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway St., Cassopolis, until time of service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Anderson officiating. Mrs. Scott will be laid to rest in Poe Cemetery, Jones.
