Claryce June Asmus, 68, of Buchanan, Michigan passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving daughters on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015.

She was born to the late Clarence R. and Clara E. (Peters) Asmus in Niles, Michigan on June 1, 1947.

After graduating from Niles High School in 1965, Claryce went on to marry Richard Norman Baird and have two daughters. Anyone who knew Claryce could attest to her free fun-loving spirit. Claryce loved birds, nature and her “girls.” She retired from Fernwood Botanical Garden in December 2012. She volunteered many hours for Fernwood and some of her fondest memories were spent with family and friends at Rocky Gap and riding the carousel at Silver Beach.

Preceding Claryce are her parents.

She is survived by her daughters Stephanie (Brett) Powers of Granger, Indiana and Michelle June Baird of Charlotte, North Carolina.

In keeping with Claryce’s wishes cremation has taken place and they will be holding a memorial service in her honor at a later date.
