Lorene M. Lundy, 68, of Niles, Michigan died peacefully with her family gathered around at 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, Indiana following a brief illness.

She was born on March 30, 1947 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Joseph and Isabelle (Schoetzow) Merrill. She was graduated from Dowagiac Union High School, and has lived in Niles since 1970. She was first employed at the former Niles plant of Simplicity Pattern Company, and then began a career in the sales offices of the National-Standard Company, where she completed more than thirty years prior to retirement.

Lorene enjoyed bowling on area leagues, but she mostly enjoyed coming home from the office to her favorite serial television shows, completing a crochet project, and some time in the kitchen cooking and baking.

Surviving family includes her children, Jodie (Craig) Allen of Atlanta, Georgia and Tracie (John) Closson of Edwardsburg, Michigan; grandchildren Deven, Camden, and Ashten Allen and Kayley and Cody Closson; Lorene’s fiancé, Roger D. Noecker of Niles, and her sister, Kathy (Jim) Peterson of Dowagiac and
two nephews.

The memorial service for Lorene Lundy will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be private, at Mission Hills.
