Susan Eileen Smith, 63, of Niles passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles.

Susan was born on Nov. 26, 1951, to the late Dean and Patsy Paxston in Valparaiso, Indiana. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. Susan’s family was the most important part of her life; she was a devoted mother, partner, sister and grandmother.
She is survived by her life partner, Lonnie Green; brother, Ricky Paxston; children, Deana (Eric) Bauman, Ryan (Crystal) Smith, Shawn (Melissa March) Smith, Leeann (Roger) Alcala and Loneta (Tom) Kirk; grandchildren, Sarah (Mark) Colwell, Brandi Williams, Hunter Williams, Damian Smith, Ami Smith, Dakota (Lexi) Alcala, Bishop Alcala, Duston Alcala, Emilee Alcala, Sebastian Kirk and Taylor Kirk; great grandchildren, Bredan, Trevor, Marrah Colwell and Emmit Alcala and uncle, Micky (Ann) Brenaman.
A memorial services for Susan will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at Community of Christ Church in Galien, 110 N. Cleveland Ave., Galien, MI 49113.
