Mary Melton, 82, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Sunday, September, 20, 2015.

Mary was born on January 10, 1933 to the late Louis and Bessie (Canfield) Webber in Niles. She was one of nine children. After graduating from high school Mary wed the love of her life, Donald Melton, at a ceremony in Niles. Together the two had three daughters. Mary worked as a pattern folder at Simplicity Pattern Company for many years before her retirement. After she retired her and Don moved to Florida for many years before returning home.

Mary was an excellent seamstress; she loved sewing, quilting, making clothing for the children and making things with her hands. She was also great at woodworking and cooking. But above all Mary’s greatest joy was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Frances Pruyne; brothers, Kenny McLaughlin and Donald William Webber; and grandsons, Adam Hartman and Joseph Norris.

Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Melton; daughters, Katherine “Kathy” Melton of Niles, Renee (Mike) Hartman of Niles and Cheryl Melton of Niles; grandchildren, Jeffery (Heather) Hartman of Niles, John Jarmin of Niles, Cynthia Jarmin of Niles, James (Deanna) Clark of Niles, Jacob (Jenny) Norris of Buchanan, and Justin Norris of South Bend; eight great grandchildren; and siblings, Carol Engdahl, Beverly Engdahl, Betty Conley, Ruth Andrus and Robert Webber.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles at 4:00 p.m.
