Robert D. Stewart, 79, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at West Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation, South Bend.

Robert was born on Sept. 18, 1935, in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Samuel and Hazel Stewart. He was a United States Navy Veteran. On Nov. 2, 1975, he married Delores Willard at a ceremony in Niles. Robert was a member of the Niles American Legion Post 26.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Delores; children, Kara (Michael) Koons, Thomas Stewart, Robert Stewart, Jr. and Steven Stewart; step children, Kimberly (Floyd) Wood, Veronica (Audrey) Seymour and Dawn (Bryce) Schaefer; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.

A memorial service will be held by the family at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the First Church of Christ Christian, 2240 Yankee St, Niles, MI 49120.
