WEST MICHIGAN — The first Monday of every September is observed across the United States as Labor Day. This day is designed to empower the labor movement and celebrate economic achievement. This coming Labor Day is September 7th and West Michigan has plenty of ways to help you celebrate! Whether it is in your town or you’re looking to plan a day or weekend trip, make sure to check out these great festivities coming up this Labor Day in West Michigan!

 

SOUTH

LaPorte County CVB

Don’t miss two great events in Michigan City this Labor Day weekend! Labor Dayz is on the shores of Lake Michigan! Enjoy carnival rides, live entertainment, pro wrestling events, arts and crafts, and a variety of food offerings. The Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets will be hosting a Labor Day Sidewalk Sale. Discover exceptional brands at extraordinary savings!

 

St. Joseph Today

St. Joseph County will be home to a truck parade and a two day band concert for Labor Day! The Community Labor Day Truck Parade starts in Zeeland and ends in Holland (Holland CVB)! Bring the family, earplugs, and appetite for big trucks, ice cream and giveaways! Give a few hours of your Labor Day to honor and celebrate our local workforce which has built one of the best places to live in the entire country! The St. Joseph Municipal Band has two free concerts on September 6th and 7th at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell!

Take a well-deserved break and let Round Barn Winery do all the work. Enjoy the fruits of their labor over the long holiday weekend. Work only on finding your favorite specialty cocktail, wine, or craft brew while live bands will be clocking in all three days for your entertainment. South Haven/Van Buren County Convention and Visitors Bureau

Join the South Haven/Van Buren County CVB this Labor Day Weekend for the 31st Annual Ox Roast and Homecoming Festival. Held in their picturesque Village Park, Lawrence’s signature annual event is fun for the whole family. If you’re in the mood to shop, check out what local farmers and artisans have to offer this fall and enjoy the freshest produce at the Farmers’ Market in the park, held throughout the morning on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There will also be various booths to explore, food vendors, Lawrence Lions Club Bingo Tent, Lions Club Beer Tent, The Knightwinds Renaissance Group exhibition, music performances at the Pavilion.

 

Saugatuck-Douglas Convention & Visitors Bureau

The 17th Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk and Pancake Breakfast is not to be missed inSaugatuck/Douglas! This grueling .19k starts at 9am on the Douglas side of the Blue Star Bridge and proceeds to the Saugatuck side! Call the community recreation for information at (269) 857 – 1444.

 

River Country Chamber of Commerce Newaygo County

The River Country Chamber of Commerce Newaygo County hosts their annual Logging Festival over the Labor Day weekend. The festival committee strives to show visitors the rich logging history on which the town of Newaygo was founded. New this year is the Mid Michigan Professional Lumberjack Competition! Come and see some of the best Lumberjacks & Jill’s in the first ever Newaygo County Professional Competition. The festival also boasts very best in handmade crafts and unique resale items with an emphasis on unique home decorations, garden and yard decor, beautiful jewelry, clothing, personalized gifts, ornaments, antiques and collectibles.

 

River Country Tourism

Three Rivers is home to the HarmonyFest, a one-day free music festival held Labor Day Sunday. It was created to bring people together in celebration of the cultural and ethnic diversity of our community through music, food, art, and social connection. From the first strum of the guitar strings to the last beat of the drum, as the crowd sways, laughs, dances, and sings along to the tunes­—the energy of HarmonyFest undeniable.

 

CENTRAL

Holland Convention and Visitors Bureau

Join the Holland Convention and Visitors Bureau for the annual Labor Day BoardWALK. The walk will begin at Heinz Waterfront Walkway and will continue along the Kollen Park Boardwalk and Window on the Waterfront and will end at Windmill Island Gardens. Transportation will be provided to transport walkers back to Heinz Waterfront Walkway. Continental Breakfast will be served at Windmill Island Gardens.

 

Mecosta County Area CVB

The Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 47th Annual Labor Day Arts & Crafts Festival. This one-day show will bring over 100 juried artists to the scenic Hemlock park along Riverwalk and the Muskegon River. The festival draws over 3,000 visitors and features wheel thrown pottery, hand woven baskets, stained glass, oak furniture, paintings, jewelry, weathervanes, lawn ornaments, and so much more. Grand Haven Area Convention

& Visitors Bureau

Don’t miss the Grand Haven Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Labor Day Community Bridge Walk! The walk starts on September 7th at 9am and goes until 5pm! This 3.5 mile walk starts at the north side of the 3rd Street bridge and ends at Chinook Pier. This is a fun activity for the entire family.

 

Muskegon County Convention & Visitors Bureau

Muskegon County is home to a really great event! The Muskegon Lions Club will host their annual Labor Day Pancake breakfast at the Margaret Drake Elliott Park from 8 a.m. to noon. Adults 12 and up are just $6, ages 3 to 11 are $3, and under 3 years of age are free! Support and help the “Muskegon Host” Lions Club make a brighter day for someone!

 

White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce

White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Fifth Third Bank along with the City of Montague and Whitehall prepare to host their 9th Annual Labor Day Community Walk on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. The Labor Day Community Walk will take place on the Hart—Montague Bike Trail and will begin at the east end of Spring Street located behind Whitehall Products and Montague Foods in Montague.

 

Silver Lake Sand Dunes — Hart Visitors Bureau/Chamber of Commerce

Head to Hart this Labor Day and enjoy a beautifully scenic 5k Run/Walk around Hart Lake. This run will take you over 3 bridges, around Hart Lake & through Downtown Hart. Bring the kids to participate in the 1 mile fun run through downtown! There will also be the 3rd annual Bridge Walk which is a free 2.2 mile leisurely walk around Hart Lake. Stick around after the event to visit the local vendor booths and enjoy special Hart Healthy Labor Day meals at local restaurants.

Silver Lake’s annual Heritage Days at the Hart Historic District is also Labor Day Weekend. There will be demonstrations, old-time music, food booths, displays, fish boil, and pig roast or chicken dinner.
