May 4, 1937 — July 28, 2015

Chester E. Brock, 78, of Schaumburg, Illinois. Beloved husband of Carole Ann Brock, nee Otter. Devoted father of Brian, Carrie, Bradley, Patrick and Patriece and the late Bruce. Loving grandfather of Isabella and Riley. Dear brother of Irma Eaves and Mitzi Ziegler. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was born May 4, 1937, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Jessie Merle and Geneva Brock, nee Caldwell.

Chester graduated Niles High School in 1955. He was the first of the Brock clan to have earned a college degree, graduating from Michigan State University in 1959 with a degree in business. Started his professional career with Studebaker in 1960 and then worked at Mercedes Benz of North America for 33 years. He retired in 1992 as the North Central region distribution manager.

Chet was involved in the Schaumburg Athletic Association for many years. The highlight for him was coaching a junior high age S.A.A. basketball team with his son Bruce.

Chet’s life long love of bowling started when he was a youth in Niles. He was inducted to the Elgin Illinois Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1999. His proudest moment was when he finally bowled a 300 game.

The most satisfying period of Chet’s retirement was when he and Carole adopted and lovingly raised two special needs children, Patrick and Patriece Brock.

As Chester said to his coworkers at his retirement party, “I don’t like goodbyes, ‘God willing and the creek don’t rise,’ our paths will cross again.”

Visitation Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated for the education of Patrick and Patriece Brock. Funeral information or online condolences www.ahlgrimfuneral.com or 847-882-5580.
