Yvonne Garvin, 78, of Niles died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Silverbrook Manor in Niles following a brief illness. She was born March 8, 1936, in South Bend to Fredrick and Mary (Unger) Unger. Yyonne attended Niles High School was loyal Notre Dame football fan. She enjoyed spending time at the Niles Senior Center; offering rides and playing BINGO. She tended to her vegetable garden and would cook and deliver meals to family and friends. Yvonne loved animals and would often feed or just watch the birds and squirrels.

On July 2, 1955 in Sedgwick, Arkansas, Yvonne married Samuel J. Garvin, who survives with children, Denise Garvin of Plymouth, Sandra (James) Walters, Leonard (Deborah) Garvin, Russell Garvin, all of Niles and James (Jacquie) Garvin of Belleview, Florida and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Delores Kujawa of Niles, Frank Unger of Buchanan, William Unger of Tallahassee, Florida, Lyle Unger of Niles, Robert Unger of Dowagiac and Al Unger of Buchanan.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

Services for Yyonne Garvin will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Deacon Roger Jan. officiating. Interment will be private at Mission Hills, Niles.
