He was a World War II Army Air Corps. veteran and Piloted B-17 bombers on many dangerous missions during which he twice had to bail out of the aircraft before they crashed. After the war he went on to own and operate a Ford car dealership with his father and eventually became the Road commissioner of St. Joseph County, Michigan, a post he held until he retired.

Arthur will be remembered by those closest to him for his generous heart and thoughtful manner as he interacted with his friends and family. He had a great love of the outdoors. Arthur also enjoyed woodcraft and puzzles, but his passion was golf.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 15 years Sylvia, daughter: Kathy Sybert of Portage, Michigan; and Cindy (Robert) Dixon of Osceola, Indiana and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
