Gerald “Jerry” R. York, 71 of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at his home in Niles.

Jerry was born June 7, 1943, to Edsel and Velda York in Niles. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked as a carpenter.

On Jan. 11, 1974, he married Barbara York at a ceremony in Niles. Jerry was an avid volunteer at the Niles Haunted House Scream Park for 24 years.

He is survived by his children, Rodney York and Hope Flint both of Niles; siblings, David (Laura) York, Keith (Helen) York, Ken (Tressa) York, JoAnne (Raymond) LaRocco, Scott (Kathy) York and Brian York and grandchildren, Sam and Andrew Craw and Jason York.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara York, and son Russell “Bill” York.
