So many of us don’t care, but should

How many of my fellow Michiganders just don’t care when it comes to politics and government? Some of us don’t care because we don’t understand the electoral process. Others don’t care because we feel the system is rigged and our votes won’t make a difference, or because we don’t take the time to educate our votes.

Well, that was once me. I was busy trying to make a living while raising my children. Now I am 72 years old, and have been active in the political world since 2009. Although I now educate my vote and cast my ballot in every election, I share in the frustration of many of those of my generation. How could we have allowed our America to be turned so completely upside down? What kind of a world are we leaving for our grandchildren?

I must admit that since becoming involved in local politics, I have become frustrated with the negativity and corruption which is so prevalent within the entire process. An exception to this rule exists in the form of Aaron Miller, a candidate for State Representative in the 59th District. A 27-year-old algebra teacher, Aaron has a sincere desire to serve this area. With a recipe of little money but a lot of hard work, he managed to beat three powerful opponents in the primary. An upfront Christian, Aaron schooled himself on past and present issues from a very early age, due to an interest in government. Rather than spouting tired rhetoric, he simply asks the public to educate their vote prior to choosing a candidate in this election.

My friends, after educating myself on this crazy political world, I’m convinced that voting for Aaron is the right move. He is not a cure-all solution, but does represent a step forward for our state. Educate your vote and send Aaron to Lansing, for by doing so, you will in fact be making a difference. This old man is proud to vote for Aaron Miller for State Representative for the 59th district.
