Funeral service for Marjorie Catherine Hansen, 86, of Biwabik, Minnesota, formerly of Michigan, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Virginia, Minnesota, with Tim Niemi conducting.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with an Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge and Christian Scientist service beginning at 6 p.m. at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, Minnesota.

Marjorie died suddenly on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Norther Pines Medical Center in Aurora.

Marjorie was born March 31, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to Grover C. and Lonella C. (Black) Brockman. In 1948 she attended Michigan State University and later married Samuel Hansen on June 19, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan.

Marjorie was a devoted homemaker and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in South Bend, Indiana. She especially enjoyed time spent with family at the cabin on Marquette Island on Lake Huron, and was active in the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club. Marjorie was a member of two bridge clubs, a member of the COA in Cassopolis. She was also a member of the Junior Arts, the Stitchery Club, was an Antlerette (of the Elks’ Club) and the Biwabik Chapter of the Eastern Star.

In April 2013 she moved to Clayridge Assisted Living in Biwabik, following her husband’s death.

Survivors include her daughters: Gayle (Steve) Neher of North Port, Florida, Suzanne (Barry) Hague of Marquette Island, Michigan and Catharine (Tim) Niemi of Biwabik, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Cory (Sybil Walker-Gooding)Hague, Cara (Melvin) Renfrow, David (Miriam Weinrich) Niemi, Charles (Pam Haig) Niemi, Jeffery (Jenny Haurunen) Niemi, Samuel Neher and Scott Neher; great-grandchildren: Brennan, Peyton, Wesley, Ella, Henry, Samuel, Jesse, Elizabeth, Lucas Kathleen, EmmaLee and Matthew; brother and sister-in-law, John (Rosemary

Hansen) Christenson.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Lonella; husband, Samuel and cousin, Jimmy Dick Herrick.
